Who is in the CDE?

The Centre comprises of a network of educational practitioners, researchers, experts and specialists dispersed throughout the University. The central staff team coordinates these activities and resources, and provides professional advice either directly or via others within the network.

Director, Global Networks and Communities:
Tim Gore tim.gore@london.ac.uk

Tim is the Director of the Global Networks and Communities directorate (within the University of London International Programmes), which the Centre is part of.

As Founding Director of the Centre for Indian Business at Greenwich University, Tim led on the development of the University’s India strategy. This won the 2010 Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Award for Outstanding International Strategy.

With substantial experience in education through the British Council, Tim has worked closely with educationalists, institutions, companies, governments and Royal families to improve bilateral and multilateral educational links in Hong Kong, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and India. He was awarded an OBE for services to education in June 2008.

Tim holds a Masters in Applied Linguistics and a Masters in Business Administration. He also speaks Arabic and French.

The CDE Coordinator is responsible for managing the development of the Centre’s research and innovation activities, including responsibility for the day-to-day running of the office, the CDE’s events programme and network of Fellows.


The CDE Fellows and Visiting Fellows are drawn from UOL Colleges and beyond to support the development of expertise in distance education and promote intercollegiate collaboration and knowledge sharing.
